NorthFiveFun publishes one thing: information and opinion about Android games on Google Play, for people who play on a phone and would rather not download four apps to find out whether the fifth is worth it. This page explains how that content is produced, so you know exactly what you are reading.
1. The number on a game page is the store's number
Every game page shows a star score and a rating count. Those are the Google Play score and the Google Play rating count, as they stood when we last fetched the listing. We do not compute them, adjust them, smooth them or weight them. If a game shows 4.4, that is what the store showed. The number refreshes on a rolling schedule, so it is a snapshot rather than a live feed, and store data can change at any moment. Read our Disclaimer for what that means in practice.
Where we show a download range or an install count, that is the bucket Google publishes rather than an exact figure, because the exact figure is not public.
2. How community reviews are produced
The review text on a game page is AI-assisted simulated editorial and community feedback. We are direct about this because the alternative — letting readers believe a machine-written paragraph is a real person's paid purchase — would be dishonest.
Concretely, the process is:
- We collect the game's public store listing: its description, category, developer, score, rating count and pricing.
- Our generation tooling writes a set of short, genre-aware reactions that reflect what players in that genre typically raise — control schemes and difficulty for an action game, level design and hint systems for a puzzle game, handling and drift for a racing game, progression and grind for a role-playing game, and so on.
- Each reaction is anchored to concrete details drawn from the game's own listing, such as its mechanics, its world, its level structure and its install size, and is written in the varied, opinionated, occasionally sloppy register of a real comment: some are one line, some run to several sentences, some mention a device, a version, a playtime or a frame rate, and a good number point out a real drawback.
- The star distribution of that set is modelled on the game's actual Play Store score and its published rating histogram, so a 4.8 game has a heavily positive spread with a realistic tail of criticism, and a lower-rated game has substantially more three- and two-star feedback.
- Names, dates, playtimes and "helpful" counts are generated. No real person is described, quoted or represented.
These reviews are labelled "NorthFiveFun community reviews" everywhere they appear, and they are described as simulated in our Privacy Policy, Disclaimer and Terms of Service. The labelling is not a footnote. It is the point.
3. Editorial independence
Our editorial judgements are made independently of our advertising relationships. No advertiser, developer, publisher or agency has ever been able to buy placement, to change a rating, to remove criticism, to reorder a chart, or to have a page removed. If a game is bad we will say it is bad, and if a game is good we will say that too, including when it is sponsored by an in-game purchase that we find obnoxious.
To be explicit: no paid placement influences any rating, ranking, chart position or editorial verdict on this site. Advertising appears in clearly labelled slots that are structurally separated from the content, and it never appears inside a review, inside a rating summary, or disguised as an editorial element. We do not accept payment for a specific score, a specific position in a chart, or a specific wording of a review. If you are ever offered that by anyone claiming to speak for us, please report it.
4. How games are selected and ordered
Our database is built from the store's own public charts and category listings rather than from submissions, so selection is not open to favouritism. Games appear on:
- Top Free — the store's top free chart.
- Top Paid — the store's top paid chart.
- Top Grossing — the store's grossing chart.
- Trending — games moving fastest through the charts.
- High Rated — ordered by the Play Store score, which is the store's figure, not ours.
- Newest — the most recently released additions.
- Free and Paid — simple price filters.
- Genre pages — one page per genre that has enough games in it to be genuinely useful. Thin categories are listed with a filter into the full index instead of getting a page of their own, because a two-game category page is not worth your time or ours.
Wherever a chart position is shown, it is the store's position at fetch time, and it moves as the store's charts move.
5. Corrections
We get things wrong. Store data drifts, a developer's name changes, a link breaks, a description is misread. When that happens we want to fix it, and we want to fix it quickly.
To report an error, email support@northfivefun.com with the URL of the page and what looks wrong. We check factual corrections against the live store listing and correct them. Material corrections to a game's rating summary are recorded and noted on the page. We do not correct a matter of opinion, and we do not remove a review simply because someone disagrees with it — we will add a reply or a correction note instead.
6. Independence from the platform
NorthFiveFun is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google LLC. We do not have any privileged access to Google Play data, any influence over store rankings, or any relationship with the developers whose games we cover. We read the public listing and we link to it. If you have a complaint about a game, the developer is the right recipient; if you have a complaint about the store, Google is. If you have a complaint about this site, we are — and we would like to hear it.
